Johan Nylén – Editor in chief
On internet communities known as Dr.AOR or AORMusic.com.
The founder of PlanetAOR.com. Started as a project back in 1995 with a welcome.to-adress (welcome.to/aormusic) but evolved in 1999 to it’s own domain.
Born in Santiago de Chile in 1970 and was adopted at age 5 to a family in Sweden. He was raised in Malmo and remained there until 1999 when he moved to Hjarup. Due to a divorce he moved back to Malmo in the year 2002-03. Today he lives in his childhood home.
During the youth years he was a metal freak until the age of 16 when he discovered AOR in the form of the true AOR pioneers, Michael Bolton and Aldo Nova. Shortly thereafter in the year of 1987 he started to collect CD’s and today his vast collection contains thousands of CD’s, with many AOR and Westcoast gems.
The concept about starting a webpage dedicated to AOR came to mind when he discovered the possibilities of the internet and a first attempt to mimic sites like AOR.nu and MelodicRock.com became reality. The result however was less than satisfying and in 2002 he thought long and hard about the future of his AOR site. A lot of the frustration came from the actions of some artists (not named here) and the theft of written material from the site.
Then while surfing the web he found a fellow AOR maniac in Johan Nilsson, his now partner in crime. Together they decided to breathe new life into the AOR web project and make it bigger and better than before.
Besides AOR, Johan likes to spend his free time with a variety of things most notably he is a fan of CounterStrike Source and plays it often. To earn his living Johan works as a DJ and karaoke host at various night clubs. At the moment he resides at a regular basis at Crown Nightclub in Malmo. He is a well recognized face in the local entertainment business after many years of working experience and his frequent visits to night clubs and record stores.
He likes to think that the future of AOR is a bright one and hopes you’ll enjoy this site.

Johan Nilsson
On internet communities known as AORSweden.
Johan were born in Helsingborg , Sweden, in 1977, a few months before Elvis died. He grew up together with one sister, one brother and his parents. The family moved around many times, but never left Helsingborg. As a child and teenager Johan played football and dreamt of beeing a big footballstar, who wasn’t? It turned out to be just a dream and he eventually quit playing in the age of 26, after having many injury problems. He never stopped loving the game and are today a big follower of english football in general and Manchester United in particular. He is part of a swedish fanclub (a part of the Scandinavian Supporter Club) and arrange trips over to England an Manchester many times a year, today he call Manchester his second home.
In 1999 he started a website about the music we all love. The website was mainly in Swedish and had reviews and news in a little less “fashioned” way. A couple of years later he joined forces with Johan Nylén and formed AORMusic.com. Over the years AORMusic.com grew to be pretty “big” and had a certain reputation, mostly in scandinavia and europe. Many personal issues led to the closer of the website in 2007, but it’s hard to be away from the business too long. Johan’s favourite music are “traditional” AOR, in the vein of Journey, Foreigner, Boston, Survivor, Giant, and so on. But for him, the important thing isn’t which type of music he listens to, as long as it’s good. All from the slickest westcoast of Airplay to the toughest progressive music from Threshold and Dream Theater suits him perfectly. He even likes many types of “usual hardrock”, like Savatage and Queensryche, as long as it’s good…
Today Johan lives with his wife Anne-Mari (married in august 2008) in a house just outside Helsingborg, they got twins (Max and Miranda) in january 2009.

Same year as faboulus Deep Purple record “Stormbringer” were recorded I was born outside Borås, Sweden. Now many years later I’m livin outside Gothenburg, my time is devoted to music and there’s almost constantly a record spinning in the player. Melodic rock or Blues are my favorite genres but almost anything goes.
Besides music I enjoy Football and Basketball but also other sports that include Swedish participators, and as anyone else I enjoy a good laugh with friends over a pint or two.
In my opinion you can’t pick a best musician nor the best album, however here’s a couple of albums I never tend to tire on:
Whitesnake – Slide it in
Rainbow – Difficult to cure
Giant – Time to burn
Dare – Blood from stone
Magnum – Princess Alice and the broken Arrow
Thunder – Behind closed doors
Gotthard – Lipservice

Mikael Berglind (on PlanetAOR.com known as Mixxx) born the same year Van Halen released “1984″.
Born in Varberg 1984 I soon moved to the small town Nordmaling in the north of Sweden with my family.
Now I live in Stockholm with my wife and cat, and life can´t be happier!
I grew up with The Beatles popmusic to Metallica and the metal in a crazy mix.
I think that you cannot dislike music until you have heard it,
and that´s why I like alot of diffrent types of rock.
I do have one favorite band, and that is Uriah Heep!
If there is a Heep-news I promise that you will read it here.
I will be your newsdesk at PlanetAOR.com, from now on.
